My Birthday!

Today has been a great day!  My wonderful husband and parents surprised me with all of this wonderful stuff this morning!!

My mom and I have been scrapbooking and sewing together or a while but we always do it at her house.  Now that we have our Etsy shop, I have been wanting to take some things home to do but I didn't have my own machine.  I am so excited to try it out tonight!!  And of course we had to go shopping today for my own accessories :)

All Things Leather

I have decided to do a treasury featuring things made with leather.  My husband Mike was the inspiration for this treasury list.  He has become pretty involved with the Etsy shop with my mom and I.  After searching on Etsy he realized that it was not just for women and has now decided that he needs to create his own shop with leather items.  Now he has no experience what so ever in making things with leather, but I think it will be fun if he decides to actually try making things.  He is very creative and I think he could make some really neat things.

Working Hard

My mom and I have been working hard this weekend to get more items listed for Little Bunny SueSue.  We had precut a bunch of fabric before the weekend started so that we could just sew..sew..sew.  This was not an easy task with Peyton running around!  She enjoyed putting together her set of fabrics as we worked on ours.

Even Daddy joined in with us and tied fabric remnants around her as bracelets and anklets.

My favorite item that we worked on all weekend was the hot pink blanket.  In fact, I almost decided not to list and just keep it all to myself!  It is so soft and cozy that I could have just snuggled up with it all weekend.

Click on the link below to look at this blanket and the other items we added this weekend!

White bobbin thread showing on Embroidery Design?

Using an embroidery machine is a lot like caring for a baby. It likes consistency and is totally dependent on you to provide all the things it needs. You know when a baby cries, it has a need. Well, your machine is the same way.
Here is a list of possible causes.

*Is there anything you changed immediately before the problem began? Needle. Bobbin. Thread type. Make sure you are using the correct type.
*Re-thread your machine. Often it is that easy. Do the same for the bobbin.
*Correct bobbin? If you have a 2nd machine or have recently replaced the bobbin, is it the correct type?
*Do you have a Sharp Needle?
*Are you using enough / correct type stabilizer?  If you have a  very thin or open weave base fabric, you might need to double up on stabilizer.

*Stray thread? Both bobbin and upper thread tracks can catch pieces of thread. Start with the bobbin. For the upper thread area, follow the track. Often, using a bright light will help locate the culprit. Pay close attention to areas that have spring catches. You might have to unscrew an area to gain access. Work on one area at a time, re-assemble then move on.
NEVER  remove upper thread by pulling your spool upwards and backing out the thread. Cut it at the top and pull thread down toward the needle. This will prevent fraying of the thread.

Hope this helps.  If you have other tips, feel free to share.

Its Vegas Baby!

My mom and I just got back from a trip together in Las Vegas.  We went for a bachelorette party for a friend of mine.  Our families have been friends since we were in 3rd grade.  We had a blast there and the bright lights everywhere are very exciting.  This is why I thought it would be fun to feature some products from Etsy that caught my eye and are Vegas themed.
